What is CT Lung Screening?

Screening examinations are tests performed to find disease before symptoms begin. The goal of screening is to detect disease at its earliest and most treatable stage.

Lung cancer screening uses low-dose CT to find lung nodules. Recent studies have shown that screening current and former heavy smokers reduced their risk of dying from lung cancer by 20%.

What is the eligibility criteria for this exam?

You should be between 55 to 80 years of age, and have smoked at least one pack of cigarettes a day for 30 years or two packs of cigarettes a day for 15 years.

A prescription is required for a CT lung screening exam.
